Snackstreet Boys

This Was Love at First Sight

I Would Sit By My Radio And Wait For This To Come On

This Was My Favorite Part of Middle School Dances

My first Backstreet Boys concert, I originally didn't have tickets to because people camped all night outside of Dillard's and even though we got there at 6 am, the line was already too long. My dad took me to the arena the day of the show and we bought scalped tickets for like hundreds of dollars. We didn't know until we got inside that they were in the handicapped section. This was a fact I was, at the time, oblivious to; the notion of tact in that situation was not really landing in my tiny prepubescent brain. So I was standing and jumping up and down and screaming and dancing wildly and...let's just say my father was probably dying of a shame I was too young and starstruck to understand.

This one's for you, dad.

Snacks I Didn't Like Until Recently

When I was in Kindergarten, we played a counting game where Miss FIelding basically gave us each a bowl of olives and we had to count as many as we could. And she was like, "You can eat every single one you count!" and all of the kids cheered. And I did not get it because I thought olives were gross. And I told that very agressively to Miss Fielding and she changed my behaviour card from a green light to a yellow light.

But now I love olives! Maybe because I only know how to cook when olive oil is involved? Butter burns too easily. I only know how to bake with butter. I really like cooking, but I go about it in a totes lazy fashion.

I went through a phase where I wanted to name my children after things you could put in dishes, like Olive, and Rosemary, and Basil. They would be perfect names were I to take part in a whimsical cute fake British family.

And pickles. I mean, pickles are pickles. I hated pickles, but I loved the way they sounded equal parts juicy and crunchy when someone would bite into one at lunch in high school. And I liked the way they smelled, all briney. But I hated their taste, until quite recently!

I have developed a taste for Gherkins. Gherkin is also the name of a building in London. I wonder why.

JackSnack

Heard it at my birthday, the theme of which was apparently "My Childhood. Booze. My Childhood. Booze.". Heard it in the cab home from said party.

Here are the Lyrics; meanwhile, "Somehow, somewhere, a whale is flying over a child." -Rachel Marder

Robert Snackinson

Took a stroll through the new-and-improved Washington Square Park today, and what do I see? Hundreds of screaming girls. Then what do I see? A bunch of Robert Pattinson decoys surrounding a trailer. Then what do I see? The actual Robert Pattinson, walking into the Silver Center to film a non-Twilight movie. He was wearing all black, which was funny, because all of his decoys were dressed in plaid button uppy shirts like the picture above. Not a very thorough job, decoys.

I'm totes into Twilight, which is funny cos I don't normally fall in with many fangirl trends. Actually, that's a total lie. In 6th grade, I wrote a letter to Leonardo DiCaprio that was like "I'm sorry you didn't get nominated for the Oscar for Titanic, but you should be happy to know that my whole homeroom class has a crush on you." Then I had all the girls I knew sign it. And the PS was like "I hope you don't get too involved with drugs" because I was fresh out of the D.A.R.E. program. It got sent back to me because I got his address wrong.

SwimSnack

Interesting, that even though I have gained a LEGITIMATE amount of weight since I was 14, a la most normal people, my awkward electric-blue-palm-tree-two-piece-swimsuit from 8th grade is STILL too big on me.

Button Snack

So Scoville wanted me to find out more about that Button Factory song because he was too lazy to do it himself. You know that song? It's like "Hello, my name is Joe and I work at a Button Factory." You probably learned it in like second grade during that weird art/music/p.e. period that may or may not have occurred before morning recess (Shout out to you, Booker T. Washington Elementary!! What up, Principal Hamilton?!?!). Or at Girl Scout camp, around a giant bonfire or in the mess hall right before each Troop showed their weird skits and probably after we all made those American Flags out of red, clear, and blue beads.

I guess some people named Peter and Ellen Allard wrote it. It's available on a website, to download! People, Teachers, and Summer Camps use it for teaching. I know this because it is listed on such dynamite databases as "ultimatecampresource.com" and "songsforteaching.com."

These Are The Lyrics

As you can see, the song conducts one singular revolution of the appendages. Its syncopated rhythm implies blah blah blah analysis blah.

Here is a link to listen to the song

I am a big fan of buttons. I used to collect them when I found them in the street, on the playground, on the floor at Fiesta Mall. I would buy weird ones at the craft store shaped like ducks or trains. Then I strung a bunch of them up on a string and hung it over the window in my room.

This was the beginning of my penchant for collecting odd knickknacks.

Some of the things I have found and kept recently
-A hologrammed Happy Feet bookmark (on the stairs of the subway)
-A weird old round-dial pay phone (cleaning out the Robert Moss nee Linhart Theater)
-An old watch I used to play with as a kid (a pouch under my bed during the neverending organization of the random shit in my room)

I think I would like to work in a Button Factory.
